OUR TRIP TO SOUTH AFRICA
Day 10, A hike in the Mountains

Return to Index of Pages

Well, we went back to Goegap and took the 4 kilometer mountain goat hike. It was fabulous. At least 1000 foot elevation change. The flora changed constantly as we climbed up. There is a water source near the top and a continuing water fall down the mountain. We found little crassulacea in the rocks and growing in moss that the water promotes. Even found a fern growing out of a rock.

The wild flowers are everywhere and include some exquisite pelargoniums and other familiar succulent plants.

The return to Goegap was well worth the trip. We have been absorbing unbelievable amounts of information.

Finally managed to get a picture of a Sun bird, below as well as a Weaver bird, who we recognize from a National Geographic special
